Tell us a little bit about you!
As MoGo's Director of Programming and Operations, I work hard to make our bikes accessible for all. In my personal life, I love to ride my bike as much as possible, no matter the weather. It's a great way to see my neighbors and neighborhood in a more casual way, and of course, see other neighborhoods too!
What is your favorite MoGo station?
My favorite station is Gabriel Richard Park (E Jefferson and E Grand Blvd). It’s the gateway to the Riverwalk heading toward Downtown, and it also connects directly to the new Iron Belle Trail around Belle Isle.
What is your favorite route to ride?
My favorite bike route is through East Poletown, between Eastern Market and the Cultural Center area. Take a look at the ride here!
Here are some highlights along the way:
Gabriel Richard Park and the MacArthur Bridge
At 2541 Field, see the Moses Field Historic Home, where the original farmer of the area lived in the mid-1800s, outside of city limits at the time.
At Field and Goethe, you'll see Grace Lee Boggs' historic home, an important advocate in Detroit's history.
When you turn left on Theodore, you'll go through the Beltline Industrial Area, which was where the very first automotive factories in Detroit were built.
Then you'll turn right onto Elmwood and go through Arboretum Detroit, a non-profit building native tree-scapes, including TreeTroit 1 and 2, Oxygen Alley, Callahan Bird Meadow, and Circle Forest.
After crossing the Chrysler Freeway, you arrive at the Ferry Ave Historic District, which includes historic homes and schools built in various architectural styles, including Romanesque, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and Mediterranean-styled houses.
Turn left on John R and you'll pass by the College for Creative Studies and the back of the DIA. Park your MoGo at the John R & Farnsworth station and walk to Woodward to see the Detroit Public Library Main Branch and enter the DIA from the beautiful front entrance.
